Onwards and Upwards – Vaulter Club Athletes Advance

Last week at the CIF Division One Prelims at Trabuco Hills, California there were 34 girl pole vaulters and 40 guy pole vaulters hashing it out to see who the top nine pole vaulters would be to advance to the next level. The wind was a bit tricky and the weather went from hot to cold all day long, but for the most part the weather was great for pole vaulting. Some would prefer the heat and no breeze, while others paid no attention and pressed right through on a nice cool day with a great breeze.

Ryan Polakiewicz – Great Oak High School, Temecula, California

Out of those stated above, you have Ryan Polakiewicz (Great Oak High School) jumping at at crisp and clean 14’6″ to qualify at the top of the list. The meet was very long and Ryan had to continue to warm up throughout the day to keep himself ready for his big jumps. All in all when push came to shove Ryan went to compete and he did exactly what he wanted to achieve in the end!

Alex Ungrady (Great Oak High School) jumpied 10’6″  and showed the crowd that she has what it takes to compete at the top level with the rest of the ladies. Alex was set to make big things happen and all of her training paid off very well while joining the rest of the qualifiers to press on to the next stage of the CIF game.

Karlly Feng from Temple City high school left her mark when she qualified for the next round of CIF jumping 11′ for the day. This Division 2 athlete competed at Moore Park High school on Saturday. Karlly does not take this sport and her training for granted at any level and we know that she will be there to compete and press forward to the next level. All three of these club athletes will meet for the next round this Saturday the 23rd or May at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California starting at 10:30 am.

We can’t say enough about how proud we are of these athletes and what they are doing for their high schools.  They worked hard and pressed throughout the year to get to where they are today. They should be just as proud that they had the vision and knowledge to know what they wanted from the start!

Good luck and see you Saturday!
