Highest Pole Vaulting California 8th grade Girl and More.

So far the summer is heating up with some great pole vaulting for the USATF Junior Olympic Series. The first qualifying meet was the shockwave meet and Catalina hit her first meet with a 9’6″ PR to start off her pole vaulting career. Cat has a claim to fame of skateboarding and surfing as sports. Both of which are recreational and that is it. I guess having fun and loving life is a great thing! Many of these girls just started in the sport and they are loving their new found experience.

Although the results say 8’5.75″ we stood at the pits and watched them officially measure and yell out 9’6″. Somehow when it was posted, that all changed.

Catalina and Astrid are twin sisters and share in the same hobbies. One day they decided to give pole vaulting a shot and now they are doing just that. Cat has a 9’6″ Pr and Astrid has an 8′ PR and they are very competitive in nature, as you would expect.

Next, we have Isabelle that came out strong with an 8’6″ PR along with Madisyn with an 8’6″ PR. Both are amazingly consistent and tend to feed off one another. These two girls will be jumping with one another for years to come. Madisyn at Murrieta Valley and Isabelle at Vista Murrieta.

Here is the progress so far for the summer of 2019.

One heck of a great set of meets with great competition. Tristen Douglas also went for the 15/16 boys division and just missed the 5th spot and came in 6th. Great attempts at 12′ and soon he will be getting the heights that he is looking for.

Next step the four young ladies will head to Sacramento for Nationals. They will jump in the 13/14 Girls Pole Vault Division on the 24th of July at 9:00 a.m. They are very motivated and excited to jump their best. We have never seen such a group of young ladies that want it so bad. It’s been fun and quite the experience for them all and we can’t wait to see what the future will bring.

Josh Negro – Great experiences – great to be part of a club where the coaches care about the growth of the athletes and their love for the sport.
